Frozen

Hi, y'all! Wow. So many things have happened since my last post, I couldn't decide what to share with y'all. Instead of writing a novel about my Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (don't worry, it's coming...!) I have another Disney topic I want to focus on this week: FROZEN.

If you haven't heard about Disney's newest animated hit, you should look into it. By look into it, I mean go to the movie, buy the soundtrack, and join the rest of the country in their obsession with this great movie. My friend Kaitlin, her sister Camille, and I actually went to the sing along version with some friends earlier last February. So fun!

Anyway, after my trip to Disney, where Frozen was beautifully portrayed on Cinderella's Castle one night during one of the magical performances put on by Magic Kingdom and belting out the "Let It Go" a thousand times, I decided to paint a canvas (and hopefully I can make some more this week!) inspired by Elsa's icy ballad.

Everything about the animation during "Let It Go" is amazing. I read that Elsa's ice castle required fifty different  animators to create, and new software was created for the snow in the movie. It's truly beautiful. The castle is stunning, and so is Elsa's magic. I was so inspired by this sequence that I decided to start with hues from the ice queen herself.  My painting began with a color called "Island Blue"- oh, the irony- for the light blue color of Elsa's new dress during the fabulous animation sequence in the song. I decided to add a rich cobalt blue to draw some drama into the painting; then brought my favorite element of Elsa's dress into play: those sparkles.

Next, I added more depth in the cobalt, connecting the contrast of the ice as the castle grows. I'm hoping for my next canvas I can paint the castle itself! I have been pinning Frozen pictures like crazy this week, and this is one of my favorites:

My final element to the paintint was a metallic silver accent to separate the white and the island blue, symbolizing the contrasting elements of the sparkling castle against the bright snow.  The glitter is harder to see in the photo below because of the lighting, but it can be seen in the first photo of the canvas.

Thank you all for reading! Have you seen Disney's Frozen? What was your favorite line? ...You hesitated. (If you got that: *air five*!)

Gifts for big/little!

I make these a while ago, but didn't have the chance to post 'em! These two canvases were made for big/little gifts! I thought it was such a sweet idea, and since this week is BIG appreciation week for my chapter, I thought it would be perfect to post them today.

Friendship

turquoise and glitter chevron
Here are some canvases I did for my friend Hannah! She wanted to get matching canvases for her and one of her best friends with this quote. I thought the quote was so pretty that the design needed to be simple, so I painted the background turquoise and did a chevron design with clear glitter.  The glitter chevron was one of my favorite parts! It didn't take away from the quote, so I was really happy with the way it turned out.

Texas Zeta Initiation

A few weeks ago was Zeta Initiation! Two of my friends asked me to paint their crowns for their littles. It was so much fun! I love their colors, and I was so excited to help them out!

I had painted this canvas for Rachel (for her little) earlier this semester, so she wanted her little's crown to have the same sort of theme on it.

I literally love these colors together so much that I wanted to keep this one! Thank you Rachel!!
I did both of the crowns above and the bulletin board!
Hope y'all like the stuff! Thank you Rachel and Caroline for giving me the opportunity to paint for y'all!

8000 Views and Summertime News

Summer has been off to a good start so far. I went to Heart o' the Hills for my counselor orientation, got to see my big brother graduate from Texas Tech, saw so much family that I hadn't seen in way too long!, painted big orders of graduation gifts--and still have more coming! (Kat that's you!), hung out with my best friends, gone country dancing one night, been on about 5 flights, finished an online class, and just had a blast during every second of it. It's been pretty busy over here, but that's the fun part!

TECH GRADUATION!
Some of my awesome fellow counselors at the Heart! We got a night off, so we were pretty happy!
My parents (and family in the background) all excited to be at graduation

I had an order for one of my close family friends. She and her mom have been in the process of redoing her room, and asked me if I could make a few canvases with her monogram and one with her favorite Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11. It's funny because the color scheme she picked is the one my mom and I used to redo my room this past year! Here's what they turned out like:

After I finished those, I had another order from her older brother! He asked me to make this canvas for a friend's birthday. I love making stuff for guys because they are so funny when they describe what they want, and then they are COMPLETELY amazed when you finish it. It was so rewarding seeing how impressed he was with it! Thanks, bud!! I hope the gift is a hit!

Thanks so much you guys for supporting me. It's hard to believe I have 8,000 views! My brother keeps telling me I need to look into getting sponsored, but I don't know the first thing about that. If anyone has any details on that, let me know. I think that'd be so fun!

Philippians 4:13

Before I went off to counselor orientation last week, I had a lot of special orders to do! The best one was for a girl in Dallas who has been battling cancer in high school and is going to Baylor next fall. Her mother emailed me with her daughter's beautiful story, and I had tears in my eyes as I read it. The special cross with the canvas ribbon was something her mom sent me that really made the canvas have a special meaning for her. She is so brave, and it is incredible that she has been able to keep up her grades though her battle. She was so thoughtful and asked her mom if they could order another canvas for a friend fighting against cancer as well. Congratulations on your graduation, Caroline!! I hope you love your gift! Baylor is lucky to have such an inspirational girl come to their university!!

Best of friends

My best friend plays softball for Oklahoma State, so I almost never get to see her during the school year. They travel ALL the time, and this weekend she is finally in AUSTIN! They play UT this weekend, so I get to go embarrass her in the stands. As her best friend, it's my job. One of my favorite campers from Heart o' the Hills (my summer camp where I am also a counselor) saw some of my stuff on Instagram! Her name is Sam, and she asked me to make some canvases for her with the sweetest canvases about friendship!! It made me SO excited for this summer when I get to work there!

Fearless

Everyone out there has that one word that inspires them the most. For me it's believe, but for my friend Hannah (and the famous Taylor Swift) it's fearless. My favorite thing Taylor Swift says about fear is right here:

She is so fantastic. This was her Instagram picture right before her concert in Austin!

Here's my own creation on fearless. Hannah wanted some sparkle, and the glitter looks amazing when it hits the light! LOVE!

New look, new pages, new ideas!

Happy Sunday, everybody! So I was thinking this morning when I woke up that I should start making more paintings with quotes that I like and show y'all by posting them on here and even make a page for all the ones I make that don't have a home..haha. My roomie Morgan and I are going to the craft store tonight, so be on the lookout for some really cute things coming soon! We have some crayon art, ADPi sorority decor, and some fancy initials! It's going to be chaos when we walk into that place!

Also, I just added the comment box on the left side of the page. That way you can message me directly off of my blog! Don't be shy, I love getting emails and comments!

Ps. Check out the new "College" and "Quotes" pages at the top of the screen. I put up a few ideas for University of Texas on the college page, but if you want your school on there, let me know. Hook 'em!

2500!!

WOW! I am speechless. We already reached 2500 views! Seriously guys, when I first started posting I never thought anyone outside my immediate family would want to look at my blog, but this is unreal! Thank you SO much for giving me motivation to keep going with the thing that makes me feel the most connected to the Lord and what makes my heart sing. This weekend is going to  be filled with fun designs: zebra print, crayon art, and some more sorority canvases! I can hardly wait. I thought this canvas is perfect for the occasion:
Love y'all!

Inspired by Tiffany's

This week one of my favorite friends, Erika, showed off the canvas I made her, and what do you know!? One of her friends at SHSU, Amy, wanted me to make one for her! Amy is so adorable, and she and I have a mutual love to wearing big bows in our hair, so we bonded instantly. Her idea was to have a Tiffany-esque blue bow on a white canvas, and I asked if I could add a bit of sparkle to it for fun! (I think it gives it a little something extra, don't you think?!)

The bow looks darker in the picture than it does in natural lighting, but I guess that's what happens when you use an iPhone for a camera! I promise, it actually has more of that turquoise look to it.

BIble Verses

Last week one of my best friends Erika Fernandez asked me to make her a little something for her dorm room with one of her favorite Bible Verses, James 1:5-6. I was a little nervous at first because it's a longer verse, but it's a great one! I used jewel tones, metallics like silver and gold to make it really pop, and even glitter! Here's what the final product looks like:

She set me a picture of it hanging on her wall yesterday, and it looks GREAT! If anyone wants one let me know!!

2012!

HAPPY 2012 EVERYBODY!
Better eat some black eyed peas and celery. Hop on one foot and all that jazz because today is the first day of a new year! 2011brought a lot of surprises, so I can only imagine what 2012 has in store. After going by Christina Williams Designs yesterday, I have two more projects!  By the way...you should go check out her Facebook page! It's awesome. Here's the canvas that I finished today:

More to come! Happy New Year, y'all!

Keep Calm and..

Well, I finished my first semester of college! It's so weird to think about, but I made it! I start back at work tomorrow, so I had to get my crafting in before my schedule got too crazy. My mom and I hit up our favorite place...MICHAEL'S! I was running low on red paint, and she wanted some clear wrap for gifts. (Funny how she buys all the paper, but I usually wrap the gifts! HA!)
My friend Meagan, a Chi O at Texas, wanted me to make her a little something, so here it is!
YAY! More to come!

New stuff!

Take a look around the blog when you have a chance, and you'll find some new things! My most popular requests have been sorority things, so that's where you should go! Here's a hint: hoot hoot, you're cute! I have another order for something Chi-O, and I'm really excited about this one...can't wait to post it!
Good luck on finals and have a GREAT week!

Ps. I added an "About me" page, too!

Giving Thanks

This was my biggest project of the break..and my favorite. It's an 8 by 12 frame with the words faith, hope, and love written in red hearts. The hearts are set on a white glitter background that sparkles in the light! This one will be around $20.00 because it is bigger and has more pieces involved than some of my other items. Eeek yay for a weekend with no worries about finals...I guess that'll be here in like a week. Thanks for the feedback guys, keep it coming!

Love, Bethany
