Cabin Gifts

Some of you may have seen the canvases I painted last month, they were ordered as gifts for Shawnee War Canoe at Heart o the Hills Camp for Girls, the camp I have spent 10 summers of my life attending. I have posted about it a few times and cannot say enough good things! For Second Term, I had an order of cabin gifts come in from the cutest mom ever, and here they are:

A closer look at the details:

This little Minnie Mouse is one of the campers who is received a canvas from Bkrafty as a cabin gift! So cute!

The reason the colors on the canvas are green blue and red is because Heart o the Hills has two tribes, the Pawnees and the Shawnees. The Pawnees are blue, and the Shawnees are green! After you're a camper, you belong to the "Heart Tribe" and which is red. Here's an old picture from my last year at camp, it shows all the colors together in the chieftain outfits. This picture was actually some of my inspiration for the canvases:

Here are some of my favorite pictures from camp this summer! I could post more, but then I'd put all 300 photos in one post.

This one is with the Pawnee Chieftain from last summer, Sherilyn! One of my best best friends in the world, Christina, and I were here tribe sponsors last summer. She is awesome, and I love her tons! Also, how could I not post this? The photobombing is just too good.

Chieftain generation photo with out newest chiefy blue...BARRETT!

My little sis Chloe!

The old chieftains always take a photo with the newest chieftain, so we had a ton of fun with that! Everybody wears a piece of the chieftain outfit, which is one of the coolest things. I love that tradition!

And there we have it!

Heart of the Hills

Good afternoon, blogging world!

So yesterday was opening day for the camp I spent ten summers of my life going to, and it is breaking my heart not being there. There is so much excitement and happiness going around, I can practically feel the camp magic when I think about it. In honor of opening day, I thought I would share some of the things I painted for a camper during first term and a few other little things. The snapshot above was actually from last year's opening day! Can you imagine what people must have thought driving past us? Like, "Who are these people jumping up and down on the side of a highway with paint all over themselves?" Well, it's a camp thing.

the wonderful sixteen year olds from last summer
There is no way to sum up all of the wonderful stories and experiences I had at the Heart in just one blog post. In fact, if I were to even try to do that it would probably end up being more like a novel, but thought I would share some artwork I did for a camp friend!

all 22 Andromeda canvases!
One of the biggest parts of camp is war canoe. This year I was asked to paint canvases for a first term camper named Phoebe for her war canoe gifts! I will admit, I was a little nervous to make 22 identical canvases, but I wanted to create something that the girls would love. Because I was a camper and in war canoe myself, I was well aware of how special the moment is when you get your first war canoe shirt and how unbelievably awesome it feels to wear it around camp. Those memories inspired my design for Phoebe's canvases.

Phoebe with her canvases! You can see the can canoe shirt as well.

The gifts are supposed to be very special, and they are given out during a devotional with your team after the practice race. I really wanted to make them special since it was Phoebe's last year of camp, so I decided that for each canvas, I would paint it exactly like their war canoe shirt. Shawnee War Canoe is called "Andromeda" and so on top of the design of the tshirt, I decided to do "Andromeda" in gold script.

I don't know about you, but I'm seeing twenty twoooo

Meghan was my special delivery helper for the order! Can't thank you enough!!
Although I wasn't a Shawnee, it brought me an insane amount of joy to have been able to paint these canvases.  I hope all of you first term Shawnee War Canoe girls love them! Congratulations on winning the race!

(I had to slip a picture of Pawnee War Canoe, too! Just for good measure. Boom boom boom boom xo)

Be strong and courageous

Hey everyone! I hope your week went smoothly. Mine is definitely a lot better now that I finished all of my tests and projects.  Even though it was pretty rough, I had some pretty neat things happened! After my sport management test on Monday my professor told me after reading my resume (we had to turn in our resumes for an assignment), she was so intrigued with my blog that she looked it up! We talked a little about the possibilities I have with my bkrafty business! It was so so awesome. She was so encouraging. It honestly made my day! Thank you, Dr. Sparvero! It really reminded me to keep my head up and embrace the possibilities I have with my business in the future.

This canvas in particular has a great message! This verse is a great reminder that God will be with you in every one of your battles. I painted it for my friend Rona, who is a new Theta this year! Thank you so much!
Have a great weekend y'all!

Hard Work

The canvas below was painted for a friend I have known since middle school, and when she told me what quote she wanted I fell in LOVE with it. I had actually never heard it before, which is surprising because I have a bit of an obsession with quotes...I may or may not have 2 full quote books and be working on a third. I thought it would be an appropriate post for the start of school! I also snuck in a fishing trophy that my older brother won this summer because I thought he would appreciate this quote , too! He keeps telling me I need to paint him something for the Houston Texans..so we 'll see what happens in the next few weeks.

Hope you like it Bridgett!

Baylor Bears

Before I left for Austin I made one of my camp friends a canvas with Baylor colors and her monogram on it, and since today is her first day of classes i thought it would be a perfect time to post it! We always instagram pictures of crafts and stuff, so it was cool getting to make her something, too. Good luck on your freshman year Meghan I know you're going to have a blast!!

Army Strong

I finally got to meet Erika's friend Amy this month! She has ordered two canvases from me already, and she recently instagramed a picture of a necklace she has that says "Army Strong" on it and asked if I could paint it. Her request was for me to do digi-camo (which is pretty tough to paint!) so I had to work really hard to perfect it. I finished it last week, but I got to see her again Monday night and finally gave it to her! Her brother is in the military and is stationed in Georgia right now, so keep him in your thoughts!

I asked Amy to send a picture of her and her canvas!
Thanks Amy! So glad you love it!

May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

This one goes out to all you dog lovers out there! My brother gave me our dog Johnny for my 13th birthday, and he is my favorite thing on the planet! Here's a canvas I did for a friend's birthday! (I snuck in a few pictures of Johnny, too. I couldn't resist.)

April Fools!

Happy April Fools!! Right now my wallet is playing a trick on me and hiding somewhere in my room...not a very funny joke, but it gave me time to paint yesterday! My friend Hannah wanted me to paint this Dr. Seuss quote for her:
So I did! I tried to make it a little wacky and cute with the fun designs and bright colors like the animations in his books. Dr.Seuss is one of my favorites! This quote is, too! Hope y'all like this one; there will be more soon!

I just got another order for this one! If anyone else does, let me know!! I love it!

Jacque & Mike's Story

One day earlier this month I received an e-mail from Jacque for a very special order of canvases. The thing I love most about doing this is that when people ask me to make a canvas for them, they share a little story with me about who or what it's for. Jacque's story she sent to me was so beautiful that I asked her if I could share it with you. I know it will touch your heart!

In March of last year, she and her husband Mike went through a very devastating time in their lives when they had a miscarriage. They just prayed for God's guidance and that He would lead them in the direction they were to go. How amazing is that?! This story really hit home with me because I remember when my aunt and uncle were trying to have another child, and they decided to adopt. It was a very long, exhausting process, and it's definitely not easy. They adopted Lacy from St. Petersburg, Russia, and she has been such a blessing to our family. I know Jacque and Mike deserve a blessing just like that! God listened to their prayers and this is what happened.
In the summer of 2011, they were presented with an opportunity to go on a missions trip to Uganda, Africa to work with the orphans in Iganga. It was there that we met and fell in love with Phiona. Her story is tragically beautiful in that she was almost aborted before she was born. The "house mom" at the orphanage talked Phiona's biological parents out of aborting but they only accepted on the condition that the house mom take Phiona once she was born. So, the day she was born, her biological parents gave her up. She lived with the house mom until she was 4 and has been living at the orphanage ever since. She is absolutely beautiful and is so full of joy and love that it would bring anyone to tears. Jacque said that she and her husband really do believe that she is the answer to their prayers and the "direction" that God wants them to follow.

I made this for little Phiona! The canvas next to it is for Mike and Jacque. I told my Bible Study to pray for them and that they get to bring Phiona home soon! They are so wonderful!! Send your prayers their way <3 <3 <3

2500!!

WOW! I am speechless. We already reached 2500 views! Seriously guys, when I first started posting I never thought anyone outside my immediate family would want to look at my blog, but this is unreal! Thank you SO much for giving me motivation to keep going with the thing that makes me feel the most connected to the Lord and what makes my heart sing. This weekend is going to  be filled with fun designs: zebra print, crayon art, and some more sorority canvases! I can hardly wait. I thought this canvas is perfect for the occasion:
Love y'all!

BIble Verses

Last week one of my best friends Erika Fernandez asked me to make her a little something for her dorm room with one of her favorite Bible Verses, James 1:5-6. I was a little nervous at first because it's a longer verse, but it's a great one! I used jewel tones, metallics like silver and gold to make it really pop, and even glitter! Here's what the final product looks like:

She set me a picture of it hanging on her wall yesterday, and it looks GREAT! If anyone wants one let me know!!

2012!

HAPPY 2012 EVERYBODY!
Better eat some black eyed peas and celery. Hop on one foot and all that jazz because today is the first day of a new year! 2011brought a lot of surprises, so I can only imagine what 2012 has in store. After going by Christina Williams Designs yesterday, I have two more projects!  By the way...you should go check out her Facebook page! It's awesome. Here's the canvas that I finished today:

More to come! Happy New Year, y'all!
