A little bit of Lilly

Hey everyone! So I was asked to make another canvas with the Delta Zeta Lilly Pulitzer pattern recently, and I was also asked to do another Lilly rose pattern.  This pattern is one of the most beautiful Lilly Pulitzer sorority patterns. I think the roses are just lovely, and even though I am not the biggest fan of pink, I think the different shades are beautiful. The bright colors really pop against one another.

 For this canvas, the custom order request was to include the Bible verse Matthew 5:16: "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your goof deeds and praise your Father in Heaven."

How Great Thou Art

Happy Sunday, y'all! So today I'm sharing one of my latest canvases I did for Kathryn, another girl at UT! She ordered it from me for Mothers Day, and I thought that was so sweet. I don't think it's a secret that I LOVE this print, and I am always down to paint it. After I posted it on my Instagram account, one of my good friends from high school texted me saying that she made the picture the background on her phone. I was so honored! That sounds a little cheesy, but it really did make me smile (thank you Veronica!)

This weekend I went to see my friend Kaitlin, and her mom was so excited to learn about my painting hobby. Kaitlin has a dresser that she wants painted in a fun, colorful design, so I'm going to paint it for her! Watch out y'all. New product line coming through. Seriously though, I am going to have WAY too much fun with this.

Sweet Summertime

WOW! Summer is here! Time for some weekend beach trips and snow cone dates! I'm so excited. I forced myself to take a break from blogging and painting so that I could focus on my finals and stuff, but now summer is here! I need to catch y'all up on some fun stuff.

 I saw NEEDTOBREATHE (all caps necessary because they were SO awesome) with my friend Kaitlin! I really wanted to see them last year because they were in town on my birthday, but I couldn't go. They were so fantastic, and Drew & Ellie Holcomb opened up for them. They are the cutest thing. Ellie has an amazing voice, and Kaitlin and I were both just in awe of how cute they were together. We eventually made our way to the front row for the concert, and got some great pictures! I even ran into one of my cousins!

My lovely friends from Italian class and I had to make a video for our last big project. It was so funny and awkward, and I am going to miss being in class with them so much next year! There are those really uncomfortable classes where no one talks to each other, but this was definitely not one of those classes. We became such great friends this semester! From struggling with Centro to suffering through some very uncomfortable Italian films to flat tires and fajita nights and so much more!! I love you all ragazze! Ciao!

One of my best nights from the last two weeks was a formal I went to. It was a BLAST. We all had so much fun dancin' and stuff...although we were a bit bitter when the DJ refused to play Justin Bieber at the end.

The Legend of Lilly

I would like to dedicate this in honor of iconic fashion designer Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau, who passed away today. For those of you who do not know who/what Lilly is, let me just tell you, it's a big deal. 

A brief history: Her schoolmate Jacqueline Kennedy, while first lady, was photographed wearing one of Pulitzer's dresses -- and made her a star. How awesome is that?

Her bright, colorful patterns included everything from roses to sailboats and from alligators to shrimp! One of my roommates swears by Lilly. We both gush over all of the new patterns (and the old ones too) together, and we've decided that Lilly is always a classy choice. 

So, in leu of today, I would like to post all of my paintings that were inspired by Lilly herself. Thank you so much for making the world a brighter - and more colorful! - place. I hope that one day I will make a positive impact on the world by doing something I love, just as she has.

This canvas is for my friend Casey! When she sent me the quote I immediately fell in love with it. It's so sweet! I wanted to do something fun and colorful with it, so I painted bright pink roses against a turquoise background with pops of lime and kelly green on the leaves.

So with this canvas I wanted to post some of my favorite pictures from this past year that kinda went along with the quote!

Each of these pictures represents an awesome memory, but they are also reminders that there is something to celebrate in every day! I made this canvas last year and put it up in my dorm room, but the words have stuck with me. Even on those bad days don't forget that there is always something to celebrate! Xo
